Professor Nacim Pak-Shiraz is the Personal Chair of Cinema and Iran at the Department of Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Edinburgh. Nacim is a governor at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and also at the Institute of Ismaili Studies.
Her work focuses on cinema and visual culture in the Middle East, particularly Iran. Her current research projects investigate the constructions of masculinities in Iranian cinema, as well as religious epics and their representation in films. Nacim Pak-Shiraz is a National Committee member of the Aga Khan Foundation and a board member of the Academic Council of the Iran Heritage Foundation. She has curated and been a speaker and a jury member at film festivals in Edinburgh and abroad. .
